HELDERBERG PRIVATE HOME NURSING SERVICES is a registered, fully accredited home based nursing care service, rendering safe, holistic, quality, personalized nursing care in the comfort and privacy of the clients’ own home or care facility in the Helderberg area, including Gordons Bay, Strand, Somerset West and Stellenbosch. In certain instances, nursing care can be arranged further afield.
As a professional service we offer psychological, social and physical comfort with individualised nursing support to our clients and their loved ones.

Let us call you for a consultation and assessment of your needs. We have all the information you might require on a variety of services, from Retirement villages and Frail Care Homes, Private Nursing, Local Doctors and Specialists, Pharmacies and Nursing Services, Hairdressers and many more.
As a fully accredited and registered nursing service and agency, we are recognised by all South African Medical Aids. Should authorisation be granted for your care, we are able to submit the claim to your medical aid who may cover some or all of the costs. Contact us and we will gladly assist you with this process.
If it is an emergency and nurses are required before authorisation is granted, we can assist you. The authorisation process can then be set in motion.
Please check with your Medical Aid what they offer in terms of Home Nursing Services, Please be aware that most Medical Aids do not cover long term care unless under special conditions. For more information, please feel free to contact us.
Private Nursing can be provided, anything from 1 hour – 24 hour care is available. There are different levels of care depending on your needs. Full case management is done by the nursing sister, all nurses are transported to and from your home, and they bring their own food. Sleep in care can be arranged in outlying areas in certain cases.
Additional services can be arranged:
Providing transport for clients, whether it be for medical appointments or simply personal reasons.
Shopping Facilities are available at a nominal fee. Supplies are bought on behalf of the client and charged on the monthly invoice, thereby keeping strict control over consumption as well as monitoring the diet of the patient.
Hair and Beauty appointments can be scheduled. Therapists can visit the patient at home or we can transport the client to appointments.
Dementia doesn’t define a person!
Even at the stage when someone with dementia needs more regular, involved care, a professional and compassionate approach helps to maintain independence and quality of life. This approach can be achieved in their own home or in a care facility.
We have beautiful and homely frail care facilities which is located in a residential area in Somerset West.
Our aim is to provide a high nurse to patient ratio especially for those with greater nursing needs. We welcome permanent, long term Geriatric patients, Alzheimers, MS and the terminally ill for palliative care, as well as being able to assist those who need some step down hospitalization for an interim period, or respite care.
Most of our frail care facilities have their own private modern shower-en-suite. All have built in cupboards and DSTV available. There are 2 spacious lounge areas for residents to use. We have created a comfortable homely environment. All meals, teas and snacks and full laundry services are included, any other services required can be organized on request, eg hairdressers, chiropodists, physiotherapists, transportation to appointments etc.
Sisters are on call 24 hours per day, and all Sisters are registered private practitioners.
While there is plenty of information, you are basically on your own when looking for a retirement home or retirement village. However this part of your planning should become easier now that we are able to assist you in your retirement planning.
Wound care is done by a nursing sister under a doctors orders. This can be done by appointment at our wound care clinic or in the comfort of your own home.
We have set up many clinics in the area, both in retirement complexes and one at our own offices. These are run by our nursing sister during office hours by appointment only 021 852 6290.
When leaving hospital and going back to your own environment, some assistance, support and rehabilitation is often needed, depending on the severity of your operation and the time needed to recuperate.
The goal of palliative care is to prevent and relieve suffering and to improve quality of life for people facing serious, complex illness.
HPHNS works closely with the Hospice.
Emotional and loving support and advice is always available from the sisters and nurses. We are very sensitive to the needs of the patients and families in this difficult time and will provide as much nursing care and support as you need.
Temporary care can be arranged for short periods of time for those who are caring for their own loved ones. We can assist short term care in your own home or in our facility.
Nursing and incontinence products are available and can be delivered to you. We also have a hiring services of wheelchairs and commodes etc.
