Helderberg Private Home Nursing Services provides care for stroke aimed at helping individuals recover and regain lost skills after a stroke in the comfort of their own homes. We address the diverse needs of stroke survivors, focusing on physical, cognitive, emotional, and social aspects of recovery. Together with the doctor, physiotherapist and occupational therapist we are committed to supporting you on your journey to better health and independence at home. 

This is achieved through Physical Rehabilitation:

  • Motor-skill exercises to improve muscle strength and coordination, including balance and walking.
  • Mobility training: Learning to use mobility aids effectively, such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, and ankle braces.
  • Constraint-induced therapy: Utilizing unaffected limbs to improve function in affected limbs through repetitive movements.
  • Range-of-motion therapy: Techniques to reduce muscle tension and regain range of motion.

Cognitive and Emotional Support:

  • Together with occupational therapy and speech therapy memory, processing, problem-solving, and social skills are addressed.
  • Speech therapy is focused on regaining language abilities, including speaking, listening, writing, and comprehension.
  • Assessing emotional adjustment and encouraging counselling or support group participation as needed.
